In my studio this morning

As it's such a glorious day here in Brissie, I thought I might take you on a little tour of my <a href="http://driftwood-interiors.blogspot.com/2010/03/black-white-just-right.html">studio</a>. It's where I spend a good part of each day, and it's where I blog, paint, relax, and sometimes escape to. It's also a nice, sunny space to relax with a magazine or two, and my family often come for a chat while I paint. I have lots of works in progress, completed paintings, fresh canvases, my experiments (of which there are many!) and lots of different bits and pieces. I'm also using some different frames and styles, and will post pics as soon as they're finished. My client went with an old silky oak day bed instead, so I happily kept it here. Some weekend painting time

Morning all. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, in spite of this ridiculous weather! Freezing winds, snow in some areas, but then today.....an absolutely beautiful Spring day. Crazy. Anyway, I had a great day yesterday, and managed to finish a couple of paintings. Blue, white...and a couple of hippies

I've just finished another watercolour in the <a href="http://driftwood-interiors.blogspot.com/2010/10/new-artworka-prototype.html">blue and white series</a> I started a few days ago. My mum has been a collector of blue and white china since I was a child, so I guess it stands to reason I'm quite partial to it myself. Sea fan watercolours

I've been planning on doing some watercolours of sea fans for some time now, and yesterday I managed to finish two. A quick update...

Now for something completely different....

I thought I'd share this little painting study I did over the weekend. I haven't painted with watercolours for years, as most of my art is quite a bit larger in scale, and I tend to use acrylics and oils. But while I was at the art shop last week, buying some printing supplies (more on that later!) I picked up a little watercolour travel set. I'd forgotten how much fun it was to sketch up a scene and put brush to paper. I'm also thinking of separating it into two or three smaller works, then framing them in simple white box frames, with white mats. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed the process, so a few watercolour studies may soon be for sale as well as my usual works.
